So my goal race and last race of the season was a bit of a positive failure. I’m proud of the work I put into it. I’m proud that I kept going. I’m sad that I freaked out. Everyone says it happens and I know it was bound to happen sooner or later. It just sucks. So this week I’ve been looking ahead about what I can do to get ready for my BIG goal race Ironman 70.3 Florida in April!! So how am I preparing?
Nutrition: I want to get into better race shape. Last week I had my first meeting with an Endurance Athlete nutritionist. She will be helping me get my training nutrition in check as well as helping me with race day nutrition! I’ve also taken the advice of my new coach Lauren and purchased an Erin Codren planner to map out my training and meals! I’m very excited! I’m also down 3 pounds this week – woot woot!!
AERO BARS!! The hubby has promised me aero bars for the bike (apparently I need to find a name for my bike). I’m excited to learn how to use these over the off season and be able to rock them in April.
FITTING: I will also be investing in a proper bike fitting. I’ve never had one of these and I’m looking forward to making sure everything is where it is supposed to be! My back has been killing me since the race and I think it has something to do with that (and probably that stupid pothole I hit it the race).
My next race is the Spacecoast half marathon on November 30. So over starting this week I begin training for the run. I’m going to keep in the cross-training bike and at least 1 day a week of swimming but I have to up my milage over 6 miles now, lol.
