So apparently nutrition is a very important part of your health, lol.

I finally got frustrated enough with my lack of weight loss. I realized I was training but I wasn’t losing anything. Insert a trip to the nutritionist. Which I’m kinda peeved that my insurance doesn’t cover. If I had a slew of medical issues it would cover it but since I am healthy they don’t. Wouldn’t it be better to pay for the nutritionist now instead of the diseases later?? Unbelievable but I digress.

So on Monday I went to my first nutritionist appointment with Ann Caldwell at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. To say she was awesome would be an understatement. She didn’t make any judgments about my life. She didn’t make any negative comments when I stepped on the scale and didn’t like the number she simply said “let’s work on fixing it”. An hour later I left with a folder of information and some homework!

1) Keep a food journal. Include a small protein and fruits or veggies with every meal or snack. Try to cook at home instead of eating out

2) Watch portion sizes

3) Exercise 4x a week and shoot for 45 minutes.

On Monday I have to send her my food journals and information. In 2 weeks I will go back and she will show me everything on paper so we can take a look at my strengths and weaknesses.

I have to say making a lifestyle change is pretty hard. Something as simple as add a fruit/veggie to every meal or snack! I’ve never thought about my snacks before (and kids we have the issue). This isn’t going to be as easy as I thought it would be! However, if it gets it so that my knees don’t smack my belly when I’m biking I’m all for it!!

All of this has be looking at those fitness trackers. You know fitbit or fit media. Has anyone ever tried them? Anything you particularly recommend??

  1. So hard! I know what to eat but that doesn’t mean that I always put the right things in my mouth. The kids/family also make it hard b/c they eat stuff I want to eat but shouldn’t. Good luck!!
