I’ve been seeing a lot of my friends (running and non-running) lately posting not only about themselves, but about everyone else. HELLO…my journey is just my journey, it belongs to no one else but me! Skinny vs. fat, fit vs. unfit, fast vs. slow, and the new phrase I hate the most these days “skinny-fat”.
People please realize, 1) if you are off the couch and trying to do your very best then what everyone else sees and thinks pales in comparison to what you are actually doing and 2) Do not judge your success by the success or failure of others, you are not them. They are not you, simple as that.
I am 5’5″ and I am 180lbs (down 2 lbs this week, woot) and I have run many half marathons and 1 marathon. I am proud of my accomplishments. No, I am not 5% body fat and can’t bench press my 70lb dog, but that doesn’t make you superior. No, I will never finish in the top 3 of a race but that doesn’t mean I don’t go out there each time and leave it all on the course. I try to eat healthy but I do cheat every so often with a cookie or a trip to Starbucks. I am happy and realistic that I am not perfect. At least I’m not drooling over a jar of peanut butter and wishing I could eat it!
You are awesome for just getting out there and moving. Your journey is no one else’s but your own and you need to own it! Love yourself and everyone else will follow! Please just stop hating on everyone else and stop hating yourself cause of what others do or do not do! Instead spend that time doing something productive…whatever that may be!
