I guess the best place to start is at the beginning. An introduction if you will. I started running back in 2009. I saw an add in a magazine for the Disney Princess Half Marathon. This race will always have a special place in my heart. I decided that I wanted to accomplish something large before my 25th birthday and this was it! I trained for 8 months to be ready for this race. I started with the couch25K program and worked my way up to 13.1 miles using the Galloway training method. I am happy to say I completed my first half in 3:48:48. It was glorious! I swore I would never do anything that foolish again.
Boy was I completely wrong about that statement. I was determined to better myself and beat my time. With another 7 months of training I was determined at the Baltimore Half Marathon to beat my time. I am proud to say that I PRed that course with a time of 2:48:58 and improvement of 1 hour!
I have since run a total of 13 half marathons. 1 full marathon and 1 Goofy Challenge.
This past January I completed not only my first full marathon but also my first Goofy Challenge. 39.3 miles over 2 days. I can honestly say this is one of the hardest things I have ever done. When I crossed that finish line I actually cried, and I am not a crier!
So join me on my journey over the next year. I’m doing the 20th Anniversary Mickey marathon in January and will be training for and attempting my first triathlon! Hopefully, I can drop some of this weight in the process. I’ve been gaining and losing the same 10lbs for the past 3 years…here’s to the new me!
